Got up early. A short walk and some stretching before waking the kids. Morning routine was on me today while my wife went to the gym. Strangely, that made everything smoother. Less negotiation, more flow. Kids ready, out the door on time.
I drove them to school and decided to walk them all the way to class. Longer walk than planned, kids running ahead, stopping, running again. My knee did not like it. It got angry fast. Still, I pushed through.
Back to the car, then home and straight into work. Focus was good again, which helped, but physically I felt heavy. Out of shape. Sluggish. I kept wondering if it was poor sleep, food, or just accumulated load. Probably all of it. Ice and elevation with the laptop on my legs became my reset.
Before physio with Cleyber, I went to the gym. Fifteen minutes on the bike. I can lower the seat quite a bit now, which feels like real progress. These short cardio sessions make a difference as long as I keep them light. Did back and biceps after.
Physio started with minimal pain, but it built up as repetitions increased. Same pattern again. Right side of the quad, left side of the kneecap. Cleyber did not like that. We modified the exercises once more and shifted focus toward glutes to offload the knee.
Upstairs, we worked on release and extension. Extension looks very good now, almost there. Then flexion. We pushed.
128 degrees.
Goal was 125. Achieved and passed.
That moment erased the whole day. Huge win. Proof that the work is paying off, even when everything feels off beforehand.
Wine popped. Celebration earned.
Key Takeaways
- Fatigue can mask progress but does not erase it
- Load management still requires constant adjustment
- Glute strength helps protect the knee when pain appears
- Flexion breakthrough changes the mental game
- Progress often shows up after the hardest days
