Day 76: Small Signs, Long Day

A full and active day with encouraging signs of quad activation and steady flexion work. Training volume was higher but controlled, mixing gym work, pool time, walking, and family logistics. Fatigue showed up by the end, yet the knee kept cooperating.

I woke up early to catch the end of the women’s Australian Open final. Quiet house, screen on, knee waking up with me. After that, I did some flexion and contractions. That’s when I noticed something new. When I contract the quads, I can almost lift my heel. Almost. But that “almost” matters. It’s progress.

Later, I went to watch my daughter during her first real tennis lesson. She was adorable. Serious face, small steps, big effort. It made me smile and miss tennis at the same time. The gap between watching and playing still feels big. Still a long way to go.

Back home, I headed to the gym for a longer session. Back, biceps, and legs, following the exercises Cleyber sent me. It was demanding, but in a good way. I finished tired, but satisfied.

At home again, family mode kicked in. My wife dropped our oldest at a birthday party, and I took the other two to the pool. I also tried a quick sauna. It wasn’t very hot, but maybe that’s better right now. It had been a while. It felt relaxing. After that, more flexion work.

I’ve changed how I do it. Still wall slides, but instead of pulling with a rope, I’m trying to sit back onto my heels. Trying is the key word. The knee isn’t there yet, but the direction feels right.

In the evening, I dropped my middle one at a friend’s house, then went to the park with my little one. She biked, I walked. A lot. After that, I picked up the oldest from the party and we all headed home.

We still managed to squeeze in Avatar at the movies. Three hours and twenty minutes. Almost the length of an Australian Open match. By the time we got back, I was done. Super sleepy. Long day, full day, but a good one.
