Today I tested a new physio who can come to my place.
He’s from my club and currently works with the gymnastics team. First session with a male physio, and wow, what a difference. I don’t know if it’s the person, the style, or just the energy, but the approach was much more direct. Rougher. More demanding. And honestly, more motivating.
Of course, that comes with discomfort.
He pushed harder, especially with the electrostimulation - higher intensity than before. Not pleasant, but effective. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Having physio at home (or technically in the building gym) is a game changer. It saves a lot of time and removes friction. No travel, no logistics, no excuses.
He started with drainage on my knee. After yesterday’s event, the swelling was massive. The drainage worked really well - I could actually see the shape of my knee again afterward.
Extension is improving, but it’s still painful when I hold it for more than five minutes under load. Progress, but not done.
After the session, I worked - and surprisingly, I was very efficient. Focused. Clear-headed.
It’s interesting how physical structure creates mental structure.
Different input today. Good results.
Key Takeaways
- A change in physiotherapist can unlock new motivation and results
- More intense treatment brings discomfort but accelerates progress
- Higher stimulation levels can improve muscle activation when tolerated
- At-home physio removes friction and increases consistency
- Manual drainage has a visible and immediate effect on swelling
- Extension is improving but still requires patience under load
- Physical structure directly supports mental focus and productivity
- Different inputs can reset both body and mindset
- Progress often comes from stepping slightly outside comfort zones
